Job Context
The Merchandiser holds the accountability for working closely with team from product development and sampling stage till shipment ensuring seamless execution of daily tasks and timely dispatch in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct fabric research based on recent trends and customer requirements, and coordinate with customers and the Design team to receive Tech Packs, sample references, color cards, and other development information for proto sample development.
  • Coordinate with the Design and Technical teams to prepare and share artwork, patterns, measurement specifications, and Tech Packs with factories, ensuring customer feedback and required revisions are incorporated within timelines.
  • Source trims and accessories as per Tech Pack requirements through ZXY-listed suppliers in liaison with the Central Sourcing team, and coordinate with suppliers and factories to ensure timely availability and development of required accessories.
  • Select suitable factories for sample development based on capability, capacity, and delivery timelines in consultation with the Team Manager.
  • Prepare initial costing, cross costing with the factory merchandising team and delivery timelines to support order confirmation and production planning.
  • Receive Purchase Orders (PO), verify order details, and communicate confirmed orders to the factories while ensuring all merchandising documentation is accurately maintained.
  • Coordinate Risk Analysis and Handover meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure production readiness and timely resolution of potential risks.
  • Coordinate with the ZXY Laboratory, Technical, Quality, Fabric, Print, and Wash teams to obtain required approvals and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Follow up with factories on fabric and trims bookings, sample development, approvals, and production readiness to ensure adherence to the Time & Action calendar.
  • Create Sales Contracts, Differential Sheets, and Proforma Invoices (PI) in ZinfoTrek against each PO
  • Update PO-wise workflow milestones (fabric in-house date, approvals, inline start, PCD, etc.) in ZinfoTrek and customer portals
  • Coordinate sample development stages, obtain customer approvals, and initiate bulk production accordingly.
  • Monitor bulk production in collaboration with factories and cross-functional teams, proactively resolving issues to ensure quality standards and shipment timelines are achieved.
  • Visit factories as required to monitor production progress and ensure Top / Shipment samples are dispatched to customers within the agreed timelines.

Experience and Educational Requirements

  • Graduate in Textile Manufacturing / Apparel Merchandising from a well reputed institute
  • At least 5 years’ merchandising experience in a reputed buying office or factory in Knit category
  • Must be knowledgeable of garments construction, wash, physical & chemical testing and costing, specifically Knit fabric properties, fabric printing, and surface applications (e.g., heat transfer, embroideries, screen-printing), Kidswear product safety and integrity
  • Must have extensive experience of product development, sourcing of materials, costing, production tracking, testing, wash and execution of orders independently.

Technical Job Requirements

  • Profound knowledge of Knit garment engineering and production processes is required
  • Have sound knowledge of fabrics and an excellent network of fabric, print, embroidery & trims suppliers
  • Should have excellent understanding of technical / production process
  • Should have a passion for product development, an eye for styles/details and fits.
  • Should be able to handle MIS entries
  • Must be capable to handle buyers independently in tremendous pressure with aggressive marketing attitude
  • Must have skills in examining and establishing proper merchandising operations and procedures
  • Good understanding of core business aspects
  • Should have ideas about effective communication for raw materials booking and delivery
