Job Title: Blended Finance Expert (Investment professional)

Job Context
Truvalu is a Netherlands-based impact-investment company engaged in developing small growing businesses through equity investment, technical assistance, and other relevant business advisory services in several emerging economies in Asia, East Africa, and South America. Truvalu, together with its partners, is building the next generation of blended climate finance solutions to unlock private capital for high-potential SMEs. This role is about shaping a financing architecture for climate-positive enterprises.
We are looking for an innovative finance professional who is excited to facilitate the structuring of instruments, mobilise capital that is not yet flowing, and help define what effective blended finance can unlock in Bangladesh. The Blended Finance Expert will focus on unlocking commercial capital for green initiatives of SMEs aligned with climate priorities of Bangladesh through deployment of catalytic funding.
The role is suited to a seasoned finance/investment professional with experience in banking or NBFI operations, SME financing, and sustainable or green finance, or with experience in investment banking, private equity, or venture capital. This role combines strategic leadership, hands-on deal structuring, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with SMEs, financial institutions, DFIs, donors, and a global team.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the organisational blended finance strategy for unlocking SME investments.
- Identify priority climate sectors.
- Support the design of investment pipelines aligned with organisational goals and objectives.
- Structure and execute impact-linked financing mechanisms and blended finance transactions.
- Lead financial modelling, risk assessment, and deal structuring.
- Support investment committee processes and documentation.
- Work closely with SMEs to ensure bankability and investment readiness in close cooperation with other teams.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and engage with investors, funds, DFIs, banks, financial institutions, donor agencies, and impact investors to mobilise capital.
- Support fundraising by developing strategy papers, concept notes, and investor presentations to raise international equity, impact-linked financing, concessional debt, and local debt to create a blended and sustainable capital pool.
- Ensure that investments deliver measurable social and environmental impact and contribute to impact measurement, reporting, and learning.
- Track and report on financial performance, key economic indicators, and operational progress to investors and donors.
- Define and articulate financial, climate, and market additionality for the investment portfolio.
- Support the integration of technical assistance alongside capital deployment.
- Contribute to market-building initiatives to strengthen green SME finance in Bangladesh.
- Engage in policy dialogue with partner organisations relevant to climate finance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members.
- Shape and lead organizational knowledge management and learning related to blended finance and collaborate with team members in developing knowledge products, tools, and frameworks.
- Build collaborative partnerships with blended finance organisations.
- Provide thought leadership in investor forums, donor meetings, and public events.

Qualification/Requirements
- Master’s degree in finance, economics, business, or related field.
- Professional qualifications, such as CFA, CAIA, or FRM, are a plus.
- 7-8 years of experience in banks/NBFIs/DFIs/PE firms/investment banking with specialisation in climate finance, blended finance, impact investing, development finance, sustainable/green finance, or SME finance is preferred.
- Proven experience in structuring debt and/or equity investments for SMEs in the context of Bangladesh. Demonstrated experience designing blended finance instruments will be a plus.
- Strong understanding of Bangladesh’s financial sector, including sustainable finance policies, refinance schemes for green projects, and SME/green financing products offered by banks and NBFIs.
- Experience in integrating technical assistance with SME finance is preferred.
- Proven ability to analyse market trends, assess business opportunities, and provide strategic insights.
- Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Bangladesh, with prior experience working with SMEs and start-ups considered an advantage.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in financial analysis.
- Advanced financial modelling and investment structuring skills.
- Familiarity with climate impact metrics, monitoring systems, and reporting frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Excellent investment writing and presentation skills are a must.
- Strategic leadership with strong execution capability, combined with excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work across private sectors, donor, and public sector environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work under high-pressure conditions.
- Willingness to travel on short notice for field visits and stakeholder engagements.
