Job Title: Assistant Manager/Manager, Environment and Health Safety

Job Context

SuIS - Sustainable Investment Solutions is looking for a qualified, responsible, and field-oriented professional for the position of Assistant Manager/Manager, Environment and Health Safety. The selected candidate will support environmental compliance, EHS management, occupational health and safety monitoring, field inspections, environmental assessment, reporting, and regulatory documentation for industrial, infrastructure, economic zone, and development projects.

The position requires practical knowledge of environmental compliance, DoE processes, EIA/ESIA/EMP implementation, EHS monitoring, occupational health and safety practices, and project-level safeguard requirements.

Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and supporting EIA, ESIA, EMP, C-ESMP, environmental monitoring reports, EHS reports, compliance reports, and environmental due diligence documents.
  • Conducting regular field visits, site inspections, environmental and safety audits, baseline surveys, and compliance monitoring.
  • Supporting project-level Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) implementation and monitoring.
  • Monitoring occupational health and safety practices, PPE use, workplace safety, emergency preparedness, waste management, housekeeping, and site-level environmental controls.
  • Supporting environmental clearance and compliance activities related to Department of Environment (DoE), ECR rules, BEZA/BEPZA/industrial project requirements, and donor-funded safeguard requirements.
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, consultants, laboratories, government agencies, project teams, and field personnel.
  • Reviewing environmental monitoring data, laboratory test reports, field observations, safety records, and corrective action plans.
  • Preparing professional reports, meeting notes, presentations, checklists, and compliance documentation.
  • Supporting stakeholder consultations, training sessions, toolbox meetings, awareness programs, and grievance documentation where required.
  • Ensuring timely reporting and follow-up on environmental, health, safety, and compliance issues.
  • Traveling frequently to project sites across Bangladesh as required.

  • Office-based with frequent field visits

Job Location:

  • Dhaka
    Frequent field visits to project locations across Bangladesh will be required.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines:
    • Environmental Science
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Civil Engineering
    • Occupational Health and Safety
    • Public Health
    • Geography and Environment
    • Natural Resources Management
    • Environmental Management
    • Urban and Regional Planning or any other relevant field

Professional training or certification in EIA/ESIA/EMP, EHS, OHS, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, fire safety, first aid, environmental monitoring, or ESG/safeguard compliance will be considered an advantage.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4 - 8 years of relevant professional experience.

Required Experience Area

Candidates should have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Environmental compliance and EHS management
  • EIA/ESIA/EMP/C-ESMP preparation and implementation
  • Occupational health and safety monitoring
  • Site inspection, safety audit, and environmental monitoring
  • Department of Environment clearance process and ECR compliance
  • Donor-funded projects and international safeguard/ESG requirements
  • Industrial, infrastructure, road, economic zone, utility, or development sector projects
  • Field surveys, baseline assessment, stakeholder consultation, training, and reporting
  • Waste management, pollution control, emergency response, and workplace safety supervision

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of Bangladesh environmental laws, DoE procedures, ECR rules, and environmental clearance requirements.
  • Good understanding of EHS management, workplace safety, occupational health and safety practices, and site compliance monitoring.
  • Understanding of international safeguard standards, ESG requirements, and development partner compliance frameworks will be preferred.
  • Excellent report writing, documentation, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of GIS, environmental monitoring tools, safety checklists, and reporting formats will be an advantage.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections, identify risks, prepare corrective actions, and follow up implementation.
  • Ability to work independently and with multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to project sites across Bangladesh.
  • Good command of English and Bangla communication.

Salary

  • Negotiable
    BDT 30,000 to 50,000 per month
  • Salary will be determined based on experience, technical capacity, and interview performance.
