The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Supply Chain will head the overall Supply Chain Department and provide strategic leadership, coordination, and management across all supply chain functions. This position will lead the department, including procurement, logistics, warehousing, inventory, and fleet administration, and will be part of the Extended Senior Management Team (ESMT).
The role is responsible for ensuring efficient and compliant supply chain operations across all programmes, including emergency procurement, with particular focus on Cox’s Bazar operations.
The post holder will lead the development and implementation of effective procurement policies, systems, and procedures in line with Save the Children standards and operating procedures, international standards, national laws, and donor requirements.
Under this role, the department’s key functions include procurement and purchase requisition management, consolidation of procurement plans and development of annual sourcing plans, strategic sourcing for high spend categories, customs clearing, transport and delivery of goods, warehousing, stock and inventory management, and timely completion of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
The Senior Manager will also line manage and build the capacity of supply chain staff and managers, while ensuring the successful implementation and effective use of the Source to Pay system at Save the Children Bangladesh.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in logistics management including procurement, transportation and distribution, customs clearing, warehouse management, and stock management of which 3 years in management position.
- Experience in Procurement management in emergency response is highly desirable.
- Experience in implementation of Procurement and Supply Chain system e.g. Source to Pay, SAP etc.
- Minimum three years of experience working with international NGOs is preferred.
- Experience in the distribution of both food and non-food items.
- Experience working with local commodities transporters, including the negotiating of competitive transportation rates.
- Experience in tracking and cataloguing of incoming and outgoing goods using computer software. (Experience using Procurement computer software is highly desirable.)
- Experience in building and developing the capacity of Procurement staff through training sessions, performance management, and development plans.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with expertise in Procurement staff management and capacity development.
- Master’s Degree, preferably in Management/Business Studies or related discipline.
