Since 2009 in Bangladesh, Room to Read is implementing education support Programs in low-income and remote communities in Natore, Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka, Moulvibazar, Narail and Jhalokathi districts. Till 2024, we have supported the education of more than 2.4 million children in Primary and 3.1 million girls in Secondary schools in various capacities. We are proud to have worked with DPE, NCTB, NAPE, DSHE, a2i as well as national radio and TV in executing scalable and systemic initiatives to eradicate illiteracy and embed life-skills.
Position Overview:
The Associate, Research Monitoring and Evaluation (RM&E) will be responsible for data quality monitoring (DQM) and frequent school and field visits to verify program implementation, ensure data accuracy, and generate evidence-based insights, overseeing program and project data collection compilation, cleaning, analysis, and reporting across all Room to Read implementation areas. This position will also support the RM&E team in planning, managing, and implementing assessments, research, and monitoring activities for Literacy and Gender Equality portfolios, including tool development and data collection using platforms such as SurveyCTO. In addition, the role involves supporting Global Indicator reporting, Program Implementation Monitoring (PIM) data review, compilation, and preparation of analytical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
This is a country office-based position requiring frequent travel to implementation areas, accounting for more than 50% of the time. The Associate, RM&E will report to the Associate Director, RM&E.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Data Quality Monitoring (DQM): Conduct data quality monitoring, including data collection, entry, and report preparation. Cross-check reported data with primary data sources to ensure data accuracy and quality. Provide recommendations for GSD reconciliation (as required).
- Frequent School Visits: Regularly visit LP and GEP schools to review program and project implementation and collect necessary project data and prepare reports with recommendations.
- Collect and Compile Field Visit Reports: Collect and compile reports from RM&E visits, prepare presentations based on the findings to share with relevant stakeholders.
- Data Storing and Analysis: Collect and store program and project data, analyze it, and prepare various presentations to illustrate trends and insights.
- Global Indicator Data Review: Support team and field offices to collect and compile Global Indicator Data. Compile and analyze data related to book checkouts and prepare relevant analysis. Verify and analyze Library Rating data activity twice a year. Review records and documents related with GI during DQM.
- Monthly PIM Data Cleaning: review and compile Program Implementation Monitoring (PIM) data Assist Officer-RM&E in analyzing monthly and quarterly PIM data.
- LP and GEP Assessments: Assist team in conducting assessments for Literacy and Gender Equality Portfolios. Assist in training, data collection planning, and take part in data quality monitoring during data collection by external data collectors.
- Assist in Research: Provide support to Officer-RM&E and AD-RM&E in planning and conducting CO-led research work.
- Assessment Data Collection through SurveyCTO: Support Officer-RM&E in designing data collection tools in SurveyCTO or other platforms.
- Assist RM&E and Program Team: Assist the RM&E and program teams in data collection, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Project Monitoring: Support in monitoring and assessing project implementation (as required).
- Program Participation: Participate in various programs and events organized by Room to Read or assigned by Room to Read.
- Any other assignments as instructed by the Supervisor or Room to Read management.
Education and Experience:
- At least bachelor’s degree from a reputed university, major in Statistics/Education/Social Science or any other relevant subject
- At least three years of experience in monitoring and research work including, data collection, data quality, data entry and managing database
Technical:
- Strong knowledge in MS Office software is a must
- Expertise in program visit and data quality monitoring is a must
- Experience and comfort in using computers, web and android-based applications (SurveyCTO and others) for data collection and analysis in STATA will be an asset
- Experience in data analysis and preparing analytical reports
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions will be a plus
