Main Purpose |
Carrying out assessments and ensuring the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the mechanical works in the projects according to MSF protocols and standards in order to ensure an optimal running of the vehicles and the mechanical equipment in the projects. |
Accountabilities |
- Defining procedures and ensuring the implementation, monitoring, maintenance and correct functioning of the vehicle fleet and other mechanical equipment.
- Managing the mechanical activities in support to and in close collaboration with fleet managers/log base/log supervisor of the respective projects. Maintaining good communication and feedback with the rest of team, also at project sites, and informing them of all workshop guidelines.
- Visiting projects in order to assess maintenance or repair needs for generators and other motorized equipmentmanaging response and prioritization of requests. Providing objective reports after field visits.
- Ensuring the proper documentation, filing and the compilation of the repairs and maintenance done or required. Signing job cards when releasing a vehicle or equipment.
- Acting as flying mechanic referent of the Workshop team providing technical advice and oversight of quality and helps in strengthening the knowledge of the team, coaching and training mechanics, vehicle maintenance agents and drivers at the field if needed. Participating in the planning and evaluation of technical trainings and staff (all mechanics, vehicle maintenance agents and drivers). Assisting the Workshop Manager in evaluating future needs in recruitment
- Helping to implement, maintain and improve safety policy by evaluating hazards and dangers and ensuring appropriate use of personal protective equipment, proper handling of dangerous goods, proper use of tools and equipment and an always clean and organized workshop
- Identifying tools, equipment and consumables needed for proper running of the workshop and the projects and giving advice on the purchase of tools. Ensuring that tools are well organized and correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security access, etc.). Performing physical stock count in accordance with frequency defined by the line manager
- Immediately informing the line manager of any problems arising in the course of work, particularly with regards to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the workshop as well as interpersonal conflicts occurring at the worksite

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities |
1. Workshop Operations and Maintenance
- Supervise the daily work of 6 mechanics (vehicles and generators) and ensure tasks are completed in a timely and correct manner.
- Minimize vehicle and generator downtime through efficient workflow planning, workload distribution, and resource allocation.
- Oversee troubleshooting and repair of complex mechanical and electrical faults.
- Plan services, weekly checks, and preventive maintenance activities to avoid overloading the workshop team.
- In collaboration with Operational Centres (OCs) fleet focal points, implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles and generators.
- Track vehicle and generator performance, maintenance history, and recurring faults to improve reliability and service quality.
- Ensure effective communication with project teams regarding hours/km surveys, job requests, and maintenance schedules.
- Conduct field/project visits to review workshop services provided and identify areas for improvement.
2. Quality Control and Compliance
- Ensure proper implementation of MSF workshop guidelines, SOPs, and standard practices.
- Maintain quality standards by ensuring all repair and maintenance work is completed correctly, safely, and on time.
- Ensure proper workshop filing and administration in line with MSF requirements, including both hard and soft copies.
- Maintain accurate job cards, service logs, repair documentation, and maintenance records for all vehicles and generators.
- Prepare weekly and monthly workshop reports covering repairs, downtime, costs, and key operational issues.
- Report major faults, spare parts delays, and other operational concerns to the Workshop Manager.
3. Team Supervision and Capacity Building
- Promote teamwork, discipline, accountability, and good communication within the workshop.
- Conduct performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and provide on-the-job training, coaching, and technical guidance to mechanics.
- Ensure staff understand and follow safe working procedures and workshop standards.
4. Safety, Security, and Housekeeping
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe working practices in the workshop according to MSF standards.
- Ensure mechanics and other workshop staff use appropriate personal protective equipment while working.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of oils, chemicals, and waste materials.
- Conduct regular safety briefings and risk assessments, investigate accidents/incidents, and implement corrective actions.
- Prevent misuse, loss, or theft of workshop tools, materials, and equipment.
5. Tools, Spare Parts, and Inventory Management
- Ensure the availability of necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts for workshop operations.
- Support the storekeeper in spare parts stock management and timely replenishment of workshop supplies.
- Carry out regular inventory of mechanics’ tools, shared workshop tools, and equipment.
6. Other Responsibilities
- Preparing guard duty rosters and monitoring guards post coverage and security logs
- Supervise cleaner
- Carry out any other task as designated by the Workshop Manager.

- Computer literacy.

| Position details |
Contract and Benefit |

Permanent contract to be continued based on performance and operational needs. Salary according to level 08 (Eight) of the internal MSF salary grid (BDT 1,08,000 Gross). Salary is non-negotiable. Income tax deduction from salary based on current income tax rule.
- 2 annual leave days per month worked.

Medical Reimbursement for employee and direct dependents based on Health Care Policy Locally Recruited Staff.
