| Friendship, a value-based organisation driven by compassion, in-depth knowledge, empathy, and grassroots experience, has been working for over 24 years to address the needs of remote and marginalised communities in Bangladesh, particularly those living in the northern river islands (chars) and the southern coastal belt. Friendship delivers integrated services through six interlinked sectors: Health, Education, Climate Action, Inclusive Citizenship, Sustainable Economic Development, and Cultural Preservation. Since its journey in 2002 with the ship hospital, Friendship has expanded to deliver integrated development solutions, now reaching more than 7.5 million people annually and nurturing opportunity, dignity, and hope by strengthening communities and enabling people to reach their full potential. Children living in the northern char areas of Bangladesh face severe multidimensional vulnerabilities due to geographical isolation, recurring climate shocks (such as floods and riverbank erosion), poverty, and limited access to basic public services. In areas like Gaibandha Sadar, these factors compromise fundamental child rights, leaving children-particularly girls and children with disabilities-at heightened risk of child marriage, school dropout, child labour, malnutrition, and exposure to violence or exploitation. In response, Friendship, with funding support from Kindernothilfe e.V. (KNH), is implementing the 5-year rights-based initiative titled "Ensuring Rights, Empowering Char Children (SHOKTI)". The project adopts a community-driven approach to tackle these systemic barriers, empower rights holders, strengthen duty bearers, and foster inclusive, protective environments across char communities in Gaibandha. Friendship now intends to commission a Baseline Survey to establish benchmark indicators on child rights, protection, education, health, and service access across 10 selected char communities in Gaibandha Sadar Upazila. The survey will utilise a mixed-methods approach to inform program implementation, guide monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and support evidence-based advocacy. Friendship invites experienced research institutions, consulting firms, or academic organisations to submit technical and financial proposals for undertaking this baseline survey.
