Role Summary
BURO Bangladesh is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure mission-critical databases supporting large-scale financial operations. The role requires expertise in MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle environments, high availability configurations, performance tuning, and enterprise data security practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle database servers.
- Implement and maintain high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, including: Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Log Shipping, etc.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, including indexing, query optimization, and resource planning.
- Perform regular backup and recovery procedures and ensure alignment with defined RPO/RTO requirements.
- Manage database access, security policies, encryption, and auditing in compliance with ISO 27001 and Bangladesh Bank guidelines.
- Execute patching, upgrades, and database migrations with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with developers for query tuning, stored procedure optimization, and schema design.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Maintain DR documentation, database architecture diagrams, and backup standards.
- Integrate databases with core banking, mobile apps, analytics systems, and third-party services.
Requirements
Education
- Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related discipline (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, EEE/ETE, or a related field. (mandatory)
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in database administration.
- At least 5+ years of hands-on expertise in MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases.
- Experience in one or more of the following business areas: Banks, Telecommunication, Software Company, IT Enabled Service (ITES), Financial Technology (Fintech) Company.
Additional Requirements
- Expertise in MSSQL HA (Always On, Clustering) and Oracle RAC/Data Guard.
- Strong knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
- Hands-on experience with RMAN, log shipping, and cloud-based DR solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud database platforms such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud.
- Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, and Bangladesh Bank regulatory guidelines.
- Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills.
- Certifications in MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or cloud databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Oracle Cloud) will be considered an advantage.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary during probationary period: ৳75,000 – ৳90,000 (Based on experience and expertise). After successful completion of probation, salary and grade will follow BURO Bangladesh policy.
