SECRETARIAT OF THE BAY OF BENGAL INITIATIVE FOR MULTI-SECTORAL TECHNICAL AND ECONOMIC COOPERATION DHAKA, BANGLADESH

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from eligible Bangladeshi nationals for the following positions at the BIMSTEC Secretariat in Dhaka, Bangladesh:

1. Health Project Officer:

  1. Number of Post: 01

Key Responsibility:

  • Support implementation of One Health-related activities in line with the project’s annual work plan
  • Support the design and implementation of capacity-building programmes and trainings in public health and One Health within BIMSTEC Member States.
  • Take a leading role in coordinating One Health-related initiatives, including the establishment of a regional observatory for infectious diseases and identification of Regional Center of Excellence (RCoE)
  • Prepare and review technical documents, reports, and guidelines related to the project scope
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders and partners to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Assist in organizing training workshops and support capacity-building activities for projects.
  • Support the organization of Project Committee meetings and Project Technical Working Group meetings, including documentation and dissemination of meeting minutes
  • Liaise with the team from FAO Bangladesh and respective Ministries of Health on a regular basis for the implementation of the project.
  • Assist Project Coordinator in ensuring that all activities align with the project objectives and are implemented and monitored efficiently and effectively.
  • Support the implementation of other health-related activities for the BIMSTEC’s Science, Technology & Innovation, Health and Human Resource department.

Qualification:

  • Knowledge of global health, and national public health systems.
  • Basic familiarity with World Bank Environmental and Social Framework, development of project concept notes, appraisal documents, technical report writing skills are an asset.
  • Experience working with multi-sectoral stakeholders is desirable.
  • Excellent proficiency in written and verbal English with working knowledge of Bengali
  • Knowledge of public health and epidemiology skills
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork and monitoring
  • Good reporting and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, veterinary sciences, nursing, medicine, or a related health science field.Advanced degree (masters) in Public Health (MPH) preferred.

3. Experience:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public health, community health, and One Health (experience on donor-funded projects is an advantage)

4. Computer Literacy: Proficiency in computer skills (MS word, excel, power point, virtual communication (zoom, teams etc.) and others.         

5. Age Limit: Below 35 years

6. Both males and females can apply

7. Remunerations: Consolidated amount of USD 810 monthly basis will be paid.
           
8. Deadline for the Applications: 06 May 2026

09. Expected date for entry on duty: 01 June 2026

10. Type of Appointment:

  1. Contractual for 06 months (with possibility of extension).
  2. The selected candidate will be on mandatory probation for a period of 03 months from the date of joining.
  3. The selected candidate is expected to serve the Secretariat for a minimum period of 06 months, subject to satisfactory performance and continuation of the project.

11. Duty Station: Dhaka, Bangladesh
