Job Context
BARCIK (Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge) is a non-governmental non-profitable development organization. A group of development practitioners, researchers and social workers established BARCIK in 1997. BARCIK has been working in the fields of environment, agroecology, climate justice and food sovereignty and development exploring the potentiality of indigenous knowledge with utmost commitment and purpose since its inception. BARCIK is looking for well-qualified male/female candidate for the immediate appointment of Agriculturist to be posted in Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira and Manikganj districts.
Job Nature: Full-time initially for 1 (one) year and opportunity to extend based on performance.
Academic/Educational qualification: Master of Science (MSC) in Agricultural Extension Education/Crop Botany from a reputed university in Bangladesh.
Experience and Job Responsibility
At least 5 years working experiences with proven skill and competencies in sustainable agriculture/agroecology, agrobiodiversity conservation, farmers led research, climate change and resilience. Responsible for working with farming communities, need based assistance, participatory research and communicating with department of agricultural extension, educational institutions and other government and non-governmental research institutions.
Other Job Requirements
- Have good listening capacities and understanding farming communities’ struggle;
- Mentally prepared to respect farming communities as a source of practical experiences, indigenous knowledge and associated local technologies
- Able to conduct on-farm research with farming communities on climate change adaptation, grounded in indigenous knowledge and local practices, including collecting field data and preparing research reports.
- Demonstrate collaboration experience, and willingness to work jointly with farming communities in exploring and resolving agriculture related problems
- Good in communication and writing both in Bangla and English.
- Have responsive, good inter-personnel skills and should be gender sensitive.
- Good in operating MS Office, Power Point presentation etc.
The candidates should have Motor bike driving license. They should be willing to stay at Shyamnagar Upazila and or Manikganj Sadar upazila levels with frequent visit to the remote areas of Satkhira or Manikganj districts. The candidates should have good knowledge on safe grading (Child Protection, Gender & Anti sexual harassment). Only experienced candidates are requested to apply.
Salary: Monthly gross salary BDT- 42,500- 45,000
Other benefit:1 (one) festival bonus equivalent to 1 month gross salary.
Job Location: Shyamnagar upazila in Satkhira district and Manikganj sadar upazila in Manikganj district.
