The Red Cross-Red Crescent Movement is the largest volunteer organization in the world. Bangladesh Red   Crescent Society (BDRCS), a national society of the Movement, constituted on 31 March 1973 by the President's Order No. 26 of 1973 with retrospective effect from 16 December 1971, is the biggest humanitarian organization in the country. As an auxiliary to the government in terms of providing the humanitarian assistance, BDRCS has been working to prevent and alleviate human suffering through rendering humanitarian services in partnership with local authorities and communities across all the districts of Bangladesh through its 68 branches and dedicated network of volunteers, in line with the international humanitarian standards and adhering to the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.

BDRCS activities include Humanitarian Response, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Management, Health and Wellbeing, Capacity Building and Promoting Red Cross/ Red Crescent ideals and principles.

Currently BDRCS is looking for a suitable Bangladeshi candidate for the Red Crescent Blood Program. The position details are as under:

Job Description/ Responsibilities-

Key Responsibilities:

• Testing - It is the responsibility of the Medical Technologist in the laboratory to perform the blood collection from donor, ABO grouping, TTi screening, component preparation, preservation, cross matching and ensure the document and blood before delivering
• Donor adverse situation management and inform the medical doctor.
• Making Report under supervision of In-charge Blood Center
• Inventory and stock management
• Maintaining the record-donor, equipment and other activities related with laboratory.
• Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
• Carry out any other duties that may arise from time to time.
• Any other tasks assigned by the authority.

Education

• Candidate should have minimum Diploma in Medical Technology in (Laboratory) from any accredited academic institution.

Experience, Competencies and Skills

Experience:

• Should have two years working experience in hospitals/ blood centers/ clinics/ health centers/ general practice, etc.

Skills:

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to work in a rural setting.
• Good computer skills, especially in MS Office and data entry templates.
• Good coordination skills and ability to cope with stress.
• Fluency in both spoken and written Bangla and English languages.
