DEVELOP DOCUMENTS TO ARTICULATE AND SHARE BEST PRACTICES ON GENDER EQUALITY TO ENCOURAGE REPLICATION AND SCALING OF SUCCESSFUL INITIATIVES ACROSS NETWORKS

Background of the Organization
Badabon Sangho is a women’s rights and women-led organization working with diverse communities, for promoting girls’ empowerment and women’s rights to land, waterbodies, natural resources, gender-based violence, and climate justice. Established in 2016 in the southern region of Bangladesh, particularly in Rampal and Mongla, Badabon Sangho now facilitated 219 women groups, five federations and 14 network members across the country especially in Bagerhat, Khulna, Noagoan, Laxmipur and Dhaka districts.

Started with feminist approach by engaging women who face the worst forms of violence and discrimination land ownership, race, natural disaster and are even expelled from their own lands but is forced to remain silent to raise their voice or ask for their rights. It has group-based structure and governance. Group members are from rural women, lower caste, Dalit, widowed, separated, divorcee, religious minorities, fisherfolks, migrant workers, crab farmers and indigenous minorities. Members living under poverty line, face hate speech and stigma and depends on natural resources and lands for their livelihoods. Context analysis
Save the Children supporting Badabon Sangho to develop organizational gender-transformative capacity under the project titled `Strengthening Women’s Organization Capacity for Championing Women’s Rights (SWOCCHAR) funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The purpose of the support is to facilitate systematic organizational capacity development in light of gender and assist them to develop their policies and practices so that capacitated Badabon Sangho would be able to advocate on wider gender and women empowerment issues. It is a way to identify organisational strengths and weaknesses in terms of policies, and exercise demanding a wide participation of group and team members from across functions. Currently it has been implementing three (3) years organizational capacity development plan. The plan includes series of consultation with groups members and stakeholders in order to develop and practice number of policies, guideline, and manuals of Badabon Sangho’s governance, operation, implementation and monitoring and reporting.

In the last two years, Badabon Sangho has been implementing several good practices which are gender transformative in governance, operation and implementation. These good practices might be documented to share and replicate it with network members.

The documentation process can include video documentary and printing materials through interviewing team, board members and groups members.

Given the above, Badabon Sangho is planning to develop a video documentary and printing documents articulating gender transformative organizational models. The documentation would consider the feminist approach, safeguarding and safety, security according to the organizational policies.

About the assignment:
The primary objective of this assignment is to document gender transformative best practices along with guideline that:

  • Document and develop communication materials to share best practices with likeminded organizations and network members

Specific tasks:

The Consultant will be responsible for:

  • Consult with team, groups members and target audiences to identify key best practices contents and audiences
  • Consult with senior Management Team to learn from their expectations
  • Draft the video documentary script and print materials contents
  • Finalize the video documentary and print materials

Requirements:

  • Proven five (5) years’ experiences in developing documentation, preferably for NGOs or development organizations.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and social dynamics in Bangladesh.
  • Ability to provide a safe, confidential, and empowering environment for participants.

Duration:
30 days after signing the contract.

Reporting Line
The Consultant will report directly Programme Manager with regular updates of assignments.

Value of Contract:

The value of the contract would be determined in non-profit experiences and analyzing the submitted proposals. The proposals must include expected remuneration, travel, food and accommodation costs and VAT and Tax as per the country’s law.

Payment terms:

  • 20% upon signing the contract.
  • 40% upon submission of the draft guideline.
  • 40% upon approval of the final guideline.
