BEARER SUPERVISOR
Position Summary: The Bearer Supervisor is responsible for supervising the Bearer team and monitoring the tasks they perform within the school premises and in any outside assignments directed by the administration. This role ensures that all campus facilities are maintained to a clean, safe, and presentable standard at all times. He/she also ensures the campus is ready for use for various events and activities.
Educational Qualifications:
- Minimum Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) required. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Police Clearance Document required prior to commencement of employment.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar supervisory role in housekeeping, facilities, or custodial services.
- Prior experience in an international school, hotel, or institutional environment preferred.
Reports to and is evaluated by: General Services Manager

Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures and the ability to learn, apply, and teach new cleaning methods
- Familiarity with the safe operation of cleaning machinery including vacuum cleaners, buffing machines, scrubbers, pressure washers, carpet shampooers, and extractors
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, train and oversee a team of bearers and gardeners to ensure high-quality output and operational efficiency
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English as required for reporting, understanding instructions and inter-departmental coordination
- Organisational skills for planning work assignments, managing supply inventory, and coordinating event set-ups
- Ability to work overtime and on weekends as required by campus operational needs
Qualities:
- Diligent and detail-oriented in maintaining facility cleanliness and safety standards across all campus areas
- Dependable and proactive in identifying and addressing issues before they have escalated
- Firm but fair in supervising Bearer and gardening staff and maintaining team discipline and performance
- Responsive to operational demands, including special events, emergency clean-ups, and off-hours requirements
- Honest and transparent in managing supply stocks and reporting facility damage
- Committed to AISD’s child protection standards and community values
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY INCLUDE
Facility Cleanliness & Supervision
- Ensure all campus facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition by supervising Bearer duties including dusting, vacuuming, polishing, washing windows and walls, cleaning bathrooms, washing and ironing flags, shampooing carpets, and removing trash and recyclables and any other tasks as needed.
- Instruct Bearers in the correct operation of cleaning machinery including vacuum cleaners, buffing machines, scrubbers, pressure washers, carpet shampooers, and extractors. Maintain tissues and cleaning supplies inventory and request replenishment before stocks deplete.
- Detect electrical, plumbing & civil faults and other repair requirements and notify the relevant personnel promptly. Report the completion of tasks to close relevant work orders in a timely manner.
Ensure all classrooms are cleaned and reset to be ready for use the next school day.
Campus Operations & Events Support
- Perform and supervise additional functions including keeping building entrances free from debris, moving furniture, and reporting building damage and malfunctions to the General Services Manager.
- Set up and break down routine functions and special events, including the arrangement of in-house stage flats, podiums, tables, chairs, partitions, sets, and props. Coordinate and supervise if needed with decorators for school event decorations/setups.
